Unlike the other organizations that arrange for free air transportation, Mercy Xpress is unique in that by having its own aircraft, it does not have to rely on the good graces of volunteer pilots and their planes being available whenever a flight is requested. This is especially critical when it comes to, last minute, have to get there now situations. This happens far too often and the families end up having to face even more hardships.

A recent study by an organization that arranges these types of flights using volunteer pilots, shows that requests to their agency and others like it are on the increase and that only around 20% of the requests are actually being met. In addition, with the ever-changing advances in medical diagnosis and treatment, predictions are that requests for these types of flights will double or even triple within the next 5 years. Now add in the fact that over 1/3 of scheduled volunteer flights are cancelled, it becomes obvious that Mercy Xpress will be able to make a significant contribution in seeing that "All Who Request a Flight, Receive a Flight".
